देहरादून। प्रथम प्रेस आयोग ने भारत में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा एवं पत्रकारिता में उच्च आदर्श कायम करने के उद्देश्य से एक प्रेस परिषद की कल्पना की थी। परिणाम स्वरूप 4 जुलाई, 1966 को भारत में प्रेस परिषद की स्थापना की गई, जिसने 16 नवम्बर, 1966 से अपना विधिवत कार्य शुरू किया। तब से लेकर आज तक प्रतिवर्ष 16 नवम्बर को ‘राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस’ के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
