स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा जी की 34 वीं पुण्यतिथि पर उनके अनन्य अनुयायियों और सहयोगियों द्वारा एमडीडीए कंपलेक्स घंटाघर पर अवस्थित प्रतिमा पर भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि दी गई। स्वर्गीय बहुगुणा जी के सहयोगी विवेकानंद खंडूरी, उत्तराखंड लोक सेवा आयोग के पूर्व सदस्य डॉ, सुमेर चंद रवि, उत्तराखंड आंदोलनकारी रविंद्र जुगरान, छात्र नेता शिवेश बहुगुणा, अशोक वर्मा ने स्वर्गीय हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा के सिद्धांतों एवं आदर्शों का स्मरण करते हुए उनकी प्रतिमा पर श्रद्धासुमन अर्पित किए।
स्वर्गीय हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा को एक समर्पित समाजवादी और धर्मनिरपेक्ष राजनेता के रूप में जाना जाता है। वह एक सच्चे देशभक्त भी थे। 1942 के राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी के आह्वन “भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन” में अंग्रेजों की खिलाफत करने पर 1942 से 1946 तक नैनी जेल इलाहाबाद वह सुल्तानपुर जेल में रहे। उनके राजनीतिक जीवन में अनेक उतार-चढ़ाव आए परन्तु वे सदैव अपने नैतिक मूल्यों एवं सिद्धांतों पर अडिग रहे। उनका कहना था की हिमालय टूट सकता है झुक नहीं सकता।
