प्रदेश के पंचायत राज मंत्री सतपाल महाराज ने गढ़वाल में दवानल की सात और कुमाऊं में कुल आठ घटनाओं में 4.75 हेक्टर वन क्षेत्र को हुए नुकसान को देखते हुए वन विभाग के अधिकारियों को निर्देशित करने के साथ-साथ स्थानीय लोगों से अनुरोध किया है कि वह आग पर नियंत्रण के लिए सरकार का सहयोग कर इसके फैलाव को रोकने का प्रयास करें।
श्री महाराज ने अपने गढ़वाल भ्रमण के दौरान जगह-जगह जंगलों में लगी भयानक आग पर नियंत्रण के लिए विभागीय अधिकारियों को पुख्ता इंतजाम करने को कहा है। उन्होंने स्थानीय ग्रामीणों और महिला मंगल दलों सहित स्वयं सहायता समूहों से अनुरोध किया है कि वह आग बुझाने में सहयोग करें ताकि वन संपदा के साथ-साथ बहुमूल्य जड़ी बूटियों को आग से बचाया जा सके।
उन्होंने कहा कि जंगलों को आग से बचाए रखने में स्थानीय ग्रामीणों और राहगीरों की भूमिका भी महत्वपूर्ण है। उनकी सहभागिता के बिना जंगलों में लगी आग के फैलाव को रोकना संभव नहीं है। इसलिए उनका अनुरोध है कि वह इस कार्य में आगे आकर सहयोग करें।
