उनकी मृत्यु की खबर से आंदोलनकारियों में शोक की लहर छा गयी।
जयपाल रावत जी पिछले कुछ दिनो से जौली ग्रान्ट हस्पताल में भर्ती थे। कल देर रात 10-बजे डाक्टर ने मृत घोषित कर दिया था। मूल रूप से जिला पौड़ी गढ़वाल के दुगड्डा के ग्राम सिमलना के रहने वाले थे । आंदोलनकारी मंच ने उनके देहांत होने पर अपने श्रद्धासुमन अर्पित किए।
केशव उनियाल व वेदा कोठारी ने उनके योगदान को याद करते हुए कहा कि उन्होने संयुक्त संघर्ष समिति के साथ हमेशा बढ़चढ़ कर प्रत्येक लड़ाई में प्रतिभाग किया और तन मन धन से पूर्ण भागीदारी की।
ओमी उनियाल व जगमोहन सिंह नेगी के साथ प्रदीप कुकरेती ने उनको श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित करते हुए कहा कि राज्य आन्दोलन में एक अच्छे व्यवसाई होने के साथ ही हमेशा पृथक उत्तराखण्ड के लिए तन मन धन से तत्पर रहे।
अंतिम बार वह पिछले राज्य स्थापना दिवस पर कचहरी परिसर में शामिल हुए थे और किसी भी सहयोग के लिए तत्पर रहते थे। वह अपने पीछे पत्नी व विवाहित दो पुत्र एक पुत्री छोड़ गये।
